The camp for underprivileged children was started in 1911 by the Union County Endeavors Society, and was run by Jesse and Helen Lounsbury from 1922 to 1964.

Over the years, the camp grew to include a swimming pool, playgrounds, dormitories and a dining room.

In 1972, Camp Endeavor merged with Camp Brett and relocated to Hunterdon County.
